The Hartford Area Softball Association (HASA) organizes a summer softball program for children between the ages of 4 and 18.  The 4-5 and 5-6 year old kids are organized and play locally in Hartford.  We partner with the Sioux Empire Fastpitch Softball Association for the 8U and up divisions and play 50% of their games in Hartford with the remaining in Sioux Falls.

Registration opens December 18, 2023 through March 15, 2024. NO REGISTRATIONS AFTER MARCH 15th!

Before you register your child for 2024 Summer Softball, please read through the following guidelines to help you register your player correctly and to inform you of our program guidelines.

Please ensure that you are registering your child for the correct age division as the age cut off has changed for 2024.  Whatever age your child is on August 31, 2023 is the age that you will register her/him for the summer league.  Still not sure?? There is a age calculator tool here.

*  If your child is returning to the same team as the previous season, please be sure to include the coach’s name/team name when you register your player. Before you register, please contact your coach to ensure that he/she is still coaching and there will be a team this season.

Our age divisions are defined below:

4/5 Co-ed T-ball:  4 and 5-year-old girls and boys (hitting off a tee during all games).

5/6 Co-ed:  5 and 6-year-old girls and boys (coaches pitch during all games).

8U: 7 and 8-year-old girls only (combination of player pitch and coach pitch during all games).

Beginning at the 10U division there are three classes or levels of softball played.  The levels are:

Level A: highly competitive, travel softball teams.  

Level B: semi-competitive softball teams that do not travel out of state for tournaments.

Recreation: players/teams are playing just for fun. Girls must play every position on the field.

*Competitive Teams have complete and sole control over their individual teams.  Hartford Area Softball has no input on competitive team decisions, schedules or team rules.

10U: 9 and 10-year-old girls (players pitch during all games from this age division and up). Levels A, B, and Rec.

12U: 11 and 12-year-old girls. Levels A, B, and Rec.

14U: 13 and 14-year-old girls. Levels A, B, and Rec.

16U: 15 and 16-year-old girls. Levels A, B, and Rec.

18U: 17 and 18-year-old girls. Levels A, B, and Rec.

*  Players can play up an age division but cannot play in an age division lower than their actual age. For example, a 12 year old player can play in the 14U division, or higher (if it does not pose a safety issue to the player) but may not play in the 10U division.
